The “WIP (Works In Progress) Committee” is the informal group of volunteers who take care of the ongoing maintenance of the airfield grounds, and maintenance equipment . Watering and mowing of the grass runways, maintaining firebreaks and fences, weed control and other activities forms the bulk of their efforts. They also liase with the Busy Bee coordinator for specific airfield maintenance activities that require significant manpower.
Members historically have been John Riddick, Darryl Turton , Dave Woodward, Ralph Harding, John Reay, Bill Dearle and Tom Krieg. These people largely established the airfield to the state we have now.
Current members are Dave Olney and Jos Bonnie, who are supported by Jeff and Don Woodward, and Barry Collins, who look after the field slashing.
The WIP Committee also oversees the use and maintenance of the club maintenance equipment – Tractors, mowers, chainsaw, whipper snipper, etc. Operation of Club maintenance equipment is restricted to members who can demonstrate proficiency in their operation.
