Christen Eagle
The Christen Eagle is an American manufactured home build kit. This Christen Eagle was built in 1986 by the first owner in Ballarat. Unfortunately for the builder, his first flight turned into a fright - so much so that he immediately put the brand new machine on the market. A syndicate from Jandakot seized the opportunity to acquire the Christen Eagle, which was specifically designed for competition, advanced aerobatic training and sport cross county flying. In 1988 - syndicate and SABC member Kevin Bailey, sponsored by Rabbit Photos, flew the aircraft in all mainland capital cities doing aerobatic displays as part of the Australia Bi-Centenary celebrations. The syndicate now includes club member David Brown. Originally registered VH-BOO, CASA re-allocated the registration during 1988-9 while the aircraft was not flying due to repairs after an accident, so a compromise was reached to use VH-BQO which without close inspection could easily be taken as the original registration.
