Langley Park -
27th April 2003

Stop Press - February 6th, 2003

Unfortunately the Langley Park Fly-in has had to be cancelled for this year due to Insurance problems. The Langley Park Management Committee will look at running it next year if we can solve the insurance nightmare.

Langley Park Press Release -
27th April 2003

Well folks, what we thought may never happen again, will in fact happen again!
The City of Perth - SABC Langley Park Fly-in 2003 will commemorate 100 years of flight.

The SABC/SAAA have negotiated an agreement with the City of Perth to fly in to Langley Field on Sunday 27th April 2003 with 100 aircraft (one aircraft for each year).

At this early stage many details are yet to be finalised but suffice to say, recent aviation and world events have taken their toll on some of our previous freedoms, the costs have yet to be finalised.

In previous events we have screened pilots and aircraft very carefully, and since Sept 11th we have entered a new age in insurance and safety requirements. NOW we have to have even more stringent guidelines and this in fact, may lead to some people missing out.

The SABC and the organising committee will make no apology for the fact that we have to be very stringent in meeting the strict safety criterion. There are a lot of details yet to be worked out including the appointment of the Operational Safety Committee, and their subsequent rulings on the Aircraft/Pilot requirements.

The Committee is acutely aware that the 2003 Langley Fly-in will be over subscribed with members wishing to land their aircraft on the day.

As the day is to commemorate 100 years of flight, the committee has decided to pursue an historical flavour and will select aircraft accordingly.

All members are welcome to lodge an application for attendance HOWEVER the committee will make the final selection of aircraft.

Watch this space as they say!

Remember, this is only open to SABC/SAAA members.
