Flitzer Z 21a

I began my Flitzer Z21a aircraft in February this year and am scratch building it from plans drawn by a designer in the U.K. It is a German 1920's style biplane designed around the VW engine. As of today (11/12/05) I have just hit 500 hrs and have the following;

  1. Fuselage virtually complete, epoxy varnished, and about to cover with Polyfiber.
  2. Port and starboard top wings 80% constructed and waiting to be offered up to the fuselage before final adjusting/finishing and covering. (Waiting to do the bottom wings before doing this).
  3. Tailfeathers all complete (including horns and hinges) and ready for Polyfiber.
  4. Undercarriage legs 90% complete until fitted to fuselage.
  5. Tailwheel complete.
  6. Rudder pedals, turned aluminium dashboard, s/s firewall, cabane, seat, and control column all done.

I have 6 weeks holidays coming up so I hope to have the bottom wings constructed to the same level as the top wings as well as the fuselage covered and painted by the end of them. My goal is to have my Flitzer ready to fly around this time next year. I have a website which I update with pics and info around every 1-2 weeks.
