Jabiru ULT3300

The engine is now installed and two engine modifications carried out, lube pump back plate & carby main jet & idle bleed orifice, anticipating lower fuel rate and better engine operation. Engine is now turned over on the starter motor periodically with one set of plugs out.

Wiring has been completed including Night VFR equipment ie: nav lights, taxi light, landing light & cabin interior night light. All systems checked OK

Jabiru has suggested another mod to the fuel system which is the installation of a header tank. They supplied one free of charge, tank with fittings; unfortunately it is not adaptable to the ULT taildragger as the main undercarriage leg is forward of the wing strut mount, which leaves no room for their tank. I am currently making two slim slipper tanks for the rear of the seat backs, along the lines of the ones available for the J series Jabby.

Some painting is completed including top & bottom cowls, wheel spats, lower rear fairing, door sills and doors.

Doors are finished including upholstery. With the exception of the cabin interior roof, the cabin floor and cabin area is also upholstered, the roof area will be completed after the fuel lines have benn installed. See photo album

With exception of aileron and flaps, controls are now installed. Firewall is fitted along with engine mount, airbox, battery, starter solenoid and alternator regulator. Doors have been swung but require a lot more work to finish them off.

A very busy panel has been cut from 1/8" aluminium and is now ready to accept instruments, circuit breakers, switches and cable controls. Three instruments will be left out until flight testing is complete. The aircraft is being prepared for NGT VFR hence the busy panel. Ancillary panels for the Bendix 76A transponder and a fuel valve panel are being formed from glass at this stage.

The new style left hand rudder pedal (my design but courtesy of Jabiru) now gives me an inch and half clearance between pedals, something I didn't have before the modification.

The kit duly arrived mid afternoon on the 14th October. Have been flat out since and currently just finished attaching some bigger bits to the fuselage (Fin & Stab). She sits in anticipation on all three wheels with some internal items already installed.
